We provide two methods for accessing and downloading the sequence features (genes etc.) from the comprehensive database in FASTA format so that they can easily be used in further analyses:

1. Sequences and then features can be selected from the Featured Sequences page (via the appropriate Genus Notes page)
2. The software described below can be downloaded and run on any PC with an internet connection.

The VirusFasta program

VirusFasta is a web-enabled Windows™ client application that uses the DPVweb database. One or more sequences of any of the viruses contained can easily be selected and the sequences obtained (nucleotides or, where appropriate, amino acids) for one or more genes from each sequence. Sequences are downloaded in FASTA format so that they can easily be used in further analyses. The program is available free and, provided that you have an active internet connection, it will run on your PC, using the DPVweb database at this web site.

• Windows 98 or higher
