| flexuous filaments |
Type member: Acholeplasma phage MV-L51
Contents
General Description
This is one of the genera in the family
Inoviridae. Members are distinguished by having more or less rod-shaped particles and because they infect spiroplasmas.
Morphology
Virions are nearly straight, rod-shaped, 10-16 nm in diameter and 70-280 nm (or more) long. One end is rounded and the attachment end is more variable in morphology.
Genome
Monopartite, circular, positive sense, ssDNA, 4.5-8.5 kb in length.
Genus Genomic Organization
There are 4 ORFs, including the major capsid protein of about 19 kDa. In phage L1 these ORFs are:
- 12.2 kDa
- 18.7 kDa, probably the major capsid protein
- 23.3 kDa
- 30.9 kDa
Type Member Genomic Organization
